Fractured - New Body of Work in Progress

Fractured is the working title of the body of work, and it is new enough that I’m still working out if this will be a cohesive collection of pieces or separate works all about the same subject: my divorce. Glass has become such a cathartic and healing way of working for me, and for the past few months I’ve really allowed this process to help me process the complicated and confusing emotions that have come with the end of my marriage.

It is my hope that I can continue to explore and grow my skills in this new medium, while also finding way to connect it to my professional practice in digital media. I have some ideas brewing, but in the mean time I wanted to share the progress so far. The first 3 pieces in this series are completed and you can view them and learn more about each one on my project page: Fractured.

I have a few more pieces in the works, and some experimental ideas I cannot wait to try out!

All The Things I Wish You Would Have Said

2024 | Clear soda-lime glass, parchment paper, ink

Art is alchemy. It allows you to transform pain into passion, and as my mother would say “wounds into wisdom”. The process of making is so deeply healing, and I am forever grateful to have this outlet in my life. I’m discovering that like the very process of making art, working glass is also alchemical. It is all about transformation through heat, and I see something very magical in that connection.

Looking forward to exploring that in more depth in the future. Stay tuned for more!
